This place does NOT need an introduction, does it, Christites?
Spent the entire day begging your professor to extend your CIA date only for her to say no? Or got pretty miserable marks in the very random surprise test? That’s fine because there’s nothing that Simar’s ka bhaiya can’t fix with his delicious chicken noodles and nimbu paani.
The blog post you guys were waiting for is finally here! The best place to spend time after you’ve had the most hectic day in class is obviously the Christ-BGR fan favorite – Simar’s Kitchen.
WHERE?
The small lane beside Christ University, Bannerghatta Road Campus, Hulimavu.
WHEN?
Whenever you’re starving, tired of having the same food from the same places within the campus, but too broke to go out and eat somewhere fancy! You can head over to Simar’s and come back within an hour, so it’s the perfect free-hour getaway.
HOW MUCH WILL YOU SPEND THERE?
The parathas are Rs. 35 each, the side dishes range from Rs. 70 to Rs. 130 and the delicious noodles and fried rice are rated at Rs. 100 – pretty affordable since they give sufficient quantity as well. We’ll wager that it would be around Rs. 150 for two people to dine there.
Just within walking distance from Christ BGR, Simar’s is always buzzing with Christites at any time of the day- and night! Not only is their food super tasty and affordable (Methi Paratha for 60 bucks, c’mon!) their staff is so welcoming and humble, they make you never want to leave. “Simar’s always reminds you of home – the food is so homely and well made, it should be called Ma’s kitchen instead!”, says Anindita Mishra, a regular customer at Simar’s.
To find out more about our favorite hangout, we went to Simar’s this very evening to “interview” (in double quotes because we mainly went to eat) the owner – our friendly neighborhood “Bhaiya” who literally always has a smile on his face.
Why did you decide to call it “Simar’s Kitchen”?
My son is called Simar. I always wanted my joint to have a very homely feeling attached to it, and what can be homelier than my baby? Plus, it’s good luck to give your startup the name of someone you love. The business flourishes, as mine is right now.
“Bhaiya ek aloo paratha please. And methi also.”

Why did you specifically choose this location?
Honestly, your college is the main reason. 80% of the credit of my business running well goes to Christites. I may not get customers all 12 months of the year, but it’s a guaranteed fact that at least for 10 of those months, this place will be jam packed.
“Bhaiya ek chicken noodles also, please.”

Did you always want to open a restaurant?
Yes, for a very long time. And now that I’ve been doing it for 8 years, I’ve never been happier!
At this point, we realized that we were literally broke and had to stop compulsively ordering food.
How did you make this place so beautiful and creative?
I told myself that the more beautiful it was, the more customers I would attract. And I was right, wasn’t I?
Yes! Simar’s is filled with the most creative decorations hanging from each of its walls. There are beautiful glass bottles with fairy lights inside them that have been stuck together and hung from the ceiling to illuminate the place. And it doesn’t stop there! Cardboard boxes, empty soda cans, Simar’s seems to be at the top of its recycling game. Go take a look at it yourself!

To sum it up,
- Affordable and tasty food
- Brilliant ambiance
- Aesthetic backgrounds for Instagram
- Eco- friendly.
Christites, we’re sold! Are you?
