Lost Generation

Ever felt life buzzing past you, everything happening all at once and the frustrating realization that you could never catch all of it even if you tried? It takes a while to recognize that there’s a generation going by, to feel the universe rush by you in a flash, to absorb that in the midst of surging behind the adrenaline that is life, we walk away so far from a legion of things. A little far from traditionalism, farther from conservative mindset and a lot farther from narrow beliefs. But we also run away from identity, empathy, humanity and things without which these heavy words would never speak sense. From the right and wrong, the good and bad and from time and truth. We shy away from the grey areas, areas where a human should reside. I’ve often thought about being content. At some point, I even believed that I found Nirvana but then a thought hit me with realization – you don’t achieve Nirvana until you die. I think we forget that we’re humans after all and to us, satisfaction doesn’t come easy. But have you ever known that feeling? The one where you feel like you just woke up, like you’ve had your senses numbed to the point where you were a mere walking frame of flesh and it’s only now that a fire has been lodged in your heart? Have you felt that warmth one feels after accomplishing something, like you’re not idle anymore and you’re feeling something because you got yourself together? That’s when it feels like inching towards Nirvana and away from rusty barriers that constrict a human from reaching their potential.

A generation passed, decisions taken, things done and then there’s no going back. They won’t stain the papers, they’ll stain minds.
This generation going by is one we’ll never see again. One that will stay on magazines and newspapers and our memories. A generation passed, decisions taken, things done and then there’s no going back. They won’t stain the papers, they’ll stain minds. Then why don’t we make it a proud history for everyone’s sake? Now that we are here and making a progress towards making progress, why lay boulders in our way because the society wants us to? Why do we keep going back? We’re walking away from unprogressive constrictions, aren’t we? Or are we just walking on a treadmill? We keep losing bits of ourselves but never reach our destination. And maybe the urge to see people below us stems from the fact that we need a thousand other discontent people to feel complete in ourselves, to achieve “Nirvana”. But we keep ourselves shadowed from the fact that the only thing the thousand people need to do is to break the pedestal we stand on. And so, it all comes down to chasing and achieving Nirvana again. It comes down to being content to make a progress. And true Nirvana is far from material. It’s the knowledge of everything we leave behind while racing with life. So hey, there’s a generation going by. Why not make it the start of coolest everything?

  4. This is the reality of life .we all pass through these stages when we can,t understand what we have do .But once we get cautious about our role we get confidence n put our efforts to find our path .The article is very useful n gives guidance to overcome like such pressures in life

  13. There are moments when you feel life at its fast pace and you can’t hold on to it. I feel it too sometimes. Always wondered if I was the only one. Great job..

  34. This is something we all experience at some point in our lives but never really feel the need to express in words. This article has beautifully captured the feeling. Got me thinking about life from a different perspective. A refreshing take on a well known topic.
